I presented this ‘lil Substack at the 1st ever ENAI Startup Fair in late 2024, and the hosts were kind enough to post the recordings to Youtube:
We were joined by a pledge1 of integrity-focused startups presenting tech to thwart, detect, and prevent contract cheating and essay mill use on campus. Approaches included linguistic analysis, auto-viva voce (via AI-generated multiple choice questions), process tracking, and LMS log-miner… the full playlist is worth a watch.
Obviously, I’m partial to Cursive’s authorship and process tracking (biometric) approach. That recording is here (and the plugin is available for Moodle):
I was going to go with “gaggle” but then posed “if a bunch of geese is a gaggle, what's a group of integrity-focused edtech companies called?” to ChatGPT and it came up with “Pledge” which… well fits pretty well.
